A strange incident came to light on the Blue Line of Metro on Sunday evening. A youth was found lying on the track in an injured condition inside the tunnel. He was not injured after being hit by a train, but his body was in a scorched condition.
It is believed that he might have been walking on foot from inside the tunnel and at the same time due to being hit by some electrical equipment, he got a strong shock of the current and he fell unconscious on the track. The young man was not hit by a train. Due to this incident, train operation on Blue Line was affected for about half an hour in the evening and some trains coming to Dwarka from Noida and Kaushambi side had to be diverted from Yamuna Bank itself.
According to information received from Metro Police and DMRC, the incident happened around 6:50 pm on Sunday. A Metro train of Blue Line was going from Mandi House towards Pragati Maidan/Supreme Court station, while passing inside the tunnel, the operator of the train caught sight of the injured youth lying on the track. The train operator immediately stopped the train by applying emergency brake and informed the nearby station controllers. Later the operator went and checked the injured youth, then he was breathing.
On the orders of the station controller, the operator lifted the young man from the track and put him in the metro and took him to Pragati Maidan. After this, with the help of staff and CISF security personnel, the injured youth was rushed to RML Hospital. The condition of the young man was said to be critical. He was identified as Deepak Kumar (21), a resident of Motihari district of Bihar. Where in Delhi he lives, it is not known. Footage of CCTV cameras installed at Mandi House and Pragati Maidan station is being scrutinized to find out how the youth reached the track.
