If the Union Minister himself should come into action on any incident of molestation, the police should also be asked to be active, but later it is found that the girl herself has denied any such incident, then? When BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia tweeted about the incident, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri immediately swung into action, but Delhi Police said that the girl denied the incident of molestation.

understand the whole matter first
Supreme Court lawyer and BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia tweeted on October 8 at around 10.20 pm – ‘A girl was molested by a miscreant in the evening in Lodhi Garden. We helped the girl in filing the complaint. People who frequent there have requested that more LEDs and CCTVs should be installed. I request Hardeep Puri ji to look into this as it will go a long way in keeping everyone safe.

Minister came into action
Yesterday i.e. on October 11, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri took cognizance of Gaurav Bhatia’s tweet. He wrote- ‘Thank you Gaurav Bhatia ji for bringing the incident to my attention. I was told by the NDMC chairman that they are already in the process of installing CCTV cameras at important places in and around Lodhi Garden. The number of guards and patrolling has also been increased.

Union Minister Hardeep Puri further wrote- ‘Other security measures like strengthening of garden walls and repair of fence are also being done regularly by the ULB which also ensures adequate lighting in the garden. Apart from this, Delhi Police has also been requested to increase its vigil especially during the odd hours.

But the girl refused to molest
Responding to the tweet of the Union Minister, the DCP of New Delhi said- ‘Sir, the police took immediate action on the information of the incident. However, the girl told the police that it was not done intentionally and she does not want any action in the matter. We assure you that ensuring women’s safety is our top priority. We will definitely increase vigil in the parks.
